My 2021 In Film

  2021 was... quite the year alright.  “2020 The Sequel” would be one way to put what much of the year felt like.  It sucked.  It just plain sucked. Nowhere near as much as the dumpster fire that was the year prior but it was still very much shitty in its own  way.  2021 was very much like the second installment in a horrible franchise that only marginally  improves upon the original but the underlying  flawed premise just ruins the potential for any  good to come out of it. The world of cinema on the other hand was pretty good actually. Art is something that's existed all my life but it wasn't always something I appreciated as much as I do now. For the longest time, I viewed art as simply entertainment, not that there was anything wrong with that.   After all, art and entertainment have never been mutually exclusive.   Art, however, isn't just entertainment and the second I realized that  well... my whole world changed and in my opinion, for the better. Suddenly the world of art had so much more to offer me.  It could make me feel. It could make me think. It could make me realize things I hadn't before. It could present all sorts of experiences outside of just entertainment that could forever change me as a person.  It could matter. This new journey I was on however didn't happen in a vacuum as there were many... let's say, forces at play in helping me get more out of art than what I had thought was possible before.
